I was talking to a friend today who is going through a difficult time in his life. In many ways he is having to pick up the pieces and start over. My heart went out to him but as I was trying to sympathize with him he stopped me. He said something that made me sit up and take notice. He said "if I do everyday what I need to do to put my life back together then eventually, if I don't give up, I will get through this and come out better." Wow! That sums up exactly what we are trying to communicate.
If we get up everyday and try to do something good for our body, our spirit, and our mind then we can't help but become healthier and more balanced people. Is it hard? Absolutely! Do you want to quit sometimes? Of course! Do we fall down? Yes. The important thing is that we are making the effort to keep moving.
The freedom that comes from the realization that we don't have to change everything in one day is wonderful. This is a journey. My favorite quote is "life is the journey, not the arrival". That is so true in weight loss as well as in other areas of life. We are on a journey and we should savor every moment.
Take time today to be thankful for what you have accomplished and look forward to the great things you are yet to do!!
