Yesterday we went to the casting call for season 9 of The Biggest Loser. There were hundreds of people in line who stood there for hours and hours waiting to get in to possibly get the chance to do what I was so blessed to have the opportunity to do this time last year.
I was able to sit at the casting tables with the casting directors and hear the stories of these people. I heard the quavering in their voices as they told how they have taken care of everyone else and left themselves in the background. I saw the longing in their faces. Their eyes speak the language of a person locked in a prison and desperately asking you to give them the key to get out. I know that feeling because I WAS THEM.
I know the feeling of getting up in the morning and battling the desire to eat because you think food is "bad". I know the confusion that comes from not knowing exactly what to do to stop the cravings and exhaustion that comes from a metabolism that isnt working properly. I know the games you play to keep from walking up the stairs or playing with your kids or going shopping with your "skinny friends".
I also know that changing your life is easier than you might think. Looking back I think it would have been so much easier in some ways to figure this thing out without being on the TV show. Of course, I am so thankful for the experience but I don't want you to think that there is some magic cure that the TV show provides. Here are the main things that you have to do that will cause you to lose the weight.
1) EAT! You have to get up in the morning and eat breakfast!!!
2) Drink Water! You have to stay hydrated.
3)Eat every 3 to 4 hours. Years of starvation and crash diets amy have shut down your metabolism. In order to get it back moving you have to eat every 3 to 4 hours.
4) Mix protiens and carbs at every meal. This stablizes your blood sugar!
5) Watch your calories! Keep a food journal!
6) EXERCISE! Do something everyday to move your body!!!
This is how you can become a big loser like me!!!
